Hi can someone please advise the smartest way to onboard an asset from the stockroom?
Here's the use case:
1. Asset comes into the warehouse (but may sit there for 3 months)
2. As part of onboarding we add it manually as a CI item into Altiris - e.g. Server1
3. Once it has been added it is then possible to link it to a location e.g. location = warehouse stockroom
4. A few weeks later we build it and put it into production with the Altiris Agent (SMA)
However, by doing that here's the issue. After the SMA is installed it creates a new Server1 entry in Altiris - so now I can see 2x Server1 - meaning the manually created entry is never used, and will need to be deleted.
I've got a suspicion it may need to have the mac address entered as well, but there is no way to add this using the edit menu for the Computer CI. Perhaps an import needs to be done?
I'd like to know the smartest way to do this task please? I'm sure this is a common issue that can be solved?
