I have a very odd problem with a couple devices/IP addresses and WMI queries. When I perform a network discovery with WMI enabled against a couple IP addresses the desination will be merged with my SMP and a new GUID will be created. These devices are hand held scanner which do not respond to WMI requests. nbtstat does not recognize the name or MAC (name is blank and the MAC is all zeros).
When I use WBEMTest against these devices I'm provided information from the localhost. Now I've tried this against other handheld scanners and did not get the same results; wbemtest would not connect. With these two it connect, but connect to the localhost. I performed a wireshark trace and found there was no communication with the destination while running wbemtest. Wireshark does show communication with the destination when performing a ping, tracert or nbtstat. I've tried from several sources to the same destination with the same result.
Any suggestions?
