Invalid Software Inventory

A flaw was corrected in 7.1 SP2 v8, but the invalid data still persists.  I glad the error was fixed, but it didn't address the garbage left behind.  Support has suggest deleting the computer entries and letting the new inventory populate.  It isn't practical to delete computer from the database to clear out the file inventory.  Our sites have added information to the asset records of many computers and deleting the computer will erase these changes.

Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning up these invalid entries?
