Console thinks Machine is a VM

We have a few computers that appear in our SMP console which show up as a virtual machine when they are actual physical computers. The icon is that of a VM but all of the information about the asset is that of either a laptop or a desktop. The biggest issue with this is that we need to do some merges for asset management and can't becuase the devices are different. Is there anyway to convert the machine from VM to physical? What would cause this in the first place?
