Unable to Connect IT Analytics for ServiceDesk

I need a solution

I am completely at a loss. We have ITMS 7.5 HF4 installed and have IT Analytics installed and working fine for software and assets. However, no matter what we try, we can't get the connection to work for IT Analytics for ServiceDesk. Here's what we've done/tried:

We are using a SQL account with sysadmin privileges and can log in to the SQL server. It also has dbo privs on the ProcessManager database.

The database server is running both ProcessManager and the CMDB so all interaction is internal to itself

The SQL server is running SQL 2012 on a Server 2008 R2 box

We are running IT Analytics for ITMS just fine

The authentication for SQL server is set to mixed.

We've tried both the DB server name and the SD server name (one article says one thing, another says the other).

Every attempt sends back the same error: Error occured attempting adding Linked Server
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (.Net SqlClient Data Provider): User does not have permission to perform this action.

We've tried running the connection from a workstation and from the SMP server just in case.

 

We're at a complete loss so any information would be helpful.
