I've got a DS 6.9 sp5mr2 server for about 2000 end points. lately, i am seeing preconfigured computers (yellow icon) show up in the console. usually, there's more than one instance of each preconfigured computer.
thing is, we don't use initial deployment (and in fact i'd love to disable it) and we don't use preconfigured computers. i doubt any of the techs actually know how to create them, and i myself barely remember how. instead, we use Ian Atkins' awesome ImageInvoker tool to do bare metal deployments and reimages.
the problem is, when i need to boot a machine into winpe, it comes up with the "select preconfigured computer" popup. if i hit cancel, it doesn't just stop at the "client record updated" screen like i expect, since the computer i'm booting up doesn't exist in the DS yet - it's a brand new VM. even if i go thru the list and delete all the machines listed in the popup, it still doesn't stop at client record updated.
has anyone else seen preconfigured computers show up in the console, when nobody actually made them? and is there a way to completely disable initial deployment? i don't have anything listed in the initial deployment item in the console, and i even have the "do not run initial deployment on selected computer types" checked for both servers and workstations/clients. so why does it keep prompting to select a preconfigured computer?
